Project Scope
Michael Wanrooy was engaged as Project Director to manage the administration of the 2012 – NDRRA Restoration works for the Balonne Shire Council.
The projects involved the restoration of shire roads, St George Aerodrome, and Thallon Levee that had been nominated for NDRRA Funding.
The role required the following:
- Develop and implement a Project Plan.
- Establish construction crews to undertake restoration works.
- Prepare construction schedule.
- Prepare and report on financial and construction activities.
- Chair fortnightly meetings.
- Deliver presentation of NDRRA activities to Councillors.
- Prepared a design and construct tender documentation for the foam bitumen stabilisation of the entire St George Aerodrome strip and apron, undertake tender evaluations and submit recommendations to Council.
- Regularly liaise with Council staff and other stakeholders.
- Arrange the design and contractor for the Thallon levee bank.
- Prepared monthly reports to Council and weekly updates to the QRA.
Our Involvement
TEG Consulting, (Michael Wanrooy) as the Project Director, led a team of RPMS project managers, supervisors and Council support staff to deliver $60 million worth of 2011/2012 restoration works for the Balonne Shire Council. The team managed 15 construction crews comprised of council crews and contractors.
Project Outcomes
The project works reached practical completion in June 2014 which met the deadline date for NDRRA funding.
The road works were restored mostly using local contractors and Council crews ensuring money was spent in the region which benefited the local communities and towns.
The works were completed under budget and met the scope proposed in the original submissions.
