Project Scope

Following the devastating flood event in Victoria, the Victorian government engaged the Johns Lyng Group (JLG) to manage the flood assessment of various structures through Victoria. JLG engaged the services of TEG to undertake structural assessments of various residential, commercial and industrial properties to assess flood damage as part of their Flood Property Assessment Program.

The role required the following:  

  • Structural assessment of properties to assess condition and damage of the property.
  • Assess what the cause of the damage was.
  • Manage all mobilisation, accommodation and travel for TEG crew and report all costs into format stipulated by JLG.
  • All report documentation to be uploaded to JLG portal “PRIME”

Provide reports that noted:

  • Identified property location, building class, age, construction type.
  • The condition and damage and risk assessment to the property
  • Provide remediation advise, including sketches and details as required.
  • Provide recommendations to improve resiliency of the property.
  • Provide management of flood assessments in the form of a register to track roster assessments and reports.
  • Undertake all assessments in a safe manner in accordance with JLG’s Hammertech portal.
  • Regularly liaise with all stakeholders.

Our Involvement

TEG undertook flood damage assessments and prepared reports in an extensive and detailed format. Provide advise to clients as to classification of damage:

  • High Risk, Low Risk
  • Flood Related or Pre-Existing
  • Structural or Non-Structural
  • Traffic Light Indicators and Notification of immediate “make safe” requirements
  • Remediation Invasiveness classifications

Project Outcomes

TEG was regarded as the preferred engineering company to undertake flood assessments. Client used TEG report templates as the master report template to be used by other consultants. TEG remained one of the few engineering consultants to continue undertaking inspections, which continued up to March 2023.
