Project Scope
TEG Consulting Engineers was engaged by Glencore MIM to provide a design analysis of a lead pot hook and hanger frame to confirm the adequacy of these components for safe operation in the lead smelter.
The project involved modelling the components in 3D, so that a Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) review could be undertaken to model stresses, strains and deflections under various load scenarios.
This role required the following:
- Preparing a 3D model of both the hook and hanger components.
- Analysing the components as a meshed part with various load scenarios imposed to measure resistant stresses, strains and deflections.
- Preparing an engineering report and certification of the modelled physical behaviour to provide a rated load for the various load scenarios.
Our Involvement
TEG Consulting Engineers undertook ACC modelling and analysis.
Project Outcomes
The successful modelling and analysis of the components was reported.
