Tully Culverts Active Asset Management Assessment

Sean Edwards and Michael Wanrooy were engaged to assess the asset condition of major and minor drainage structures in Tully Township. The drainage structures included underground stormwater pipes, culvert crossings and open drainage channels. All works were completed for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) Asset Management Team.

The scope of works involved investigation of the drainage structures using electronic devices to record all field data, photos and GoPro video. Reports included structural condition assessment, risk analysis, asset importance levels, structural details of the asset involved as well as remediation actions and replacement costs. The field data was then compiled into a report which included current replacement cost, residual value, useful life and remaining useful life.

All works were compiled in accordance with IPWEA PN5 and RPEQ certified these were than adopted by CCRC for the asset management register.

The project works were completed on time and adopted by Council. Council has since requested further reports to be completed including the rewriting of reports completed by other consultants. Council in particular appreciated the remediation advice included in the report which noted a risk assessment before and after remediation works were implemented. This reduced the risk rating of some assets classified as high down to a low risk without the extensive capital cost of replacing the asset.
